We know children learn through play! Little Joeys is a place where your child can be a child – be creative, play in the dirt, get wet and messy, explore, investigate and take managed risks; outside in the fresh clean air.
Little Joeys Early Learning Centre is an exciting part of our family at Coolum Beach Christian College. Our ELC, which opened in January 2017, provides a child-focused, play-based kindergarten program within a long day care setting.
Little Joeys is a place where children and their families are nurtured and cared for. Drawing from a deep heritage of rich community at Coolum Beach Christian College, Joeys is a place of warmth, belonging and connection, a place where each child is accepted and valued as a unique individual within a larger family.
Our environment is purposefully designed with a lush natural outdoor learning space to help your child feel at home and leap into their learning adventure. We also have a bush site on campus for our Adventure Days.
Great care has been put into the development of the Joeys facility with sustainability considerations core to the design. Outdoor learning is an important part of our curriculum and children have extended periods of time for loose parts play, riding bikes/scooters, water and mud play! Our culture will encourage children to learn resource conservation as they participate in activities such as recycling materials for play or feeding their scraps to the worm farm and composting.
Joeys actively participate in the life of Coolum Beach Christian College. We attend Primary Chapel on Wednesdays and the College Library twice a week. We have fun at College Mob Days, Mini Olympics, Book Week Parades and adventure around campus on Nature Play Days.
Our stimulating learning environment and integration into College life provides a strong foundation that will prepare children for the best possible transition into school. Having an early learning centre on our campus grounds and a comprehensive Transition to School program ease of access to school facilities. As the year progresses, Kindy children become very familiar with the Prep environment and teachers and enjoy their visits to the classroom well before they begin Prep.

Little Joeys runs a QLD Govt Approved Kindergarten program for children in the year before Prep. Pre-Kindy is also available for children from 3 years of age.
The centre is open between 7.30am and 5.30pm, 48 weeks of the year, closing for a month over the Christmas holiday period.
Little Joeys is closed on Public Holidays.
Do you wish to enrol your child at Little Joeys? Below we step out in detail, the Enrolment Process.
Step 1: Parents/Guardians complete an Application for Enrolment form for each child, completing all sections as requested.
Step 2: Attach a copy of your child’s Birth Certificate and Immunisation record. Include any other necessary documents or reports and pay the non-refundable registration fee of $55 per child.
Step 3: Little Joeys will contact you by email regarding an interview time or notification of a placement on the waiting list. If the child is put on a waiting list, when a position becomes available an invitation to an interview will be sent by email. If the child is to be offered a place, the Parent and child attend an interview at the centre with the Director where more detailed information may be required regarding health needs and special concerns.
Step 4: When all enrolment information has been received and a place is available, parents will be sent an offer of placement, specifying an orientation day and a starting date. Parents will then be required to complete a direct debit payment form.
Step 5: Parents need to sign and return the accepted offer with the enrolment fee of $180.
Step 6: The child along with parent/guardian attend the designated orientation day where children are given a starter pack, which includes a Joeys t-shirt, library folder, water bottle and a hat.
Step 7: We then welcome children on their first day. Parents are encouraged to stay until the child settles and/or mat time begins. Parents/Guardians are requested to speak with the teacher at the end of each day, especially for the first few weeks after starting.
Please note that until all sections of the application are received, we cannot proceed with the Application for Enrolment. Completing an Application for Enrolment in Little Joeys does not offer automatic entry into Coolum Beach Christian College. A separate Application for Enrolment to Prep at Coolum Beach Christian College is required.
