To learn effectively, a child needs to experience success in school and feel confident about their learning experiences. Our vision for Coolum Beach Christian College is that all students feel valued, supported and connected in a caring learning environment that presents both challenges and inspiration so students are able to do their best, pursue individual excellence and develop into a passionate lifelong learner.
Our dedicated Learning Enrichment Team aims to support teachers as they cater for individual student needs. This is achieved by providing differentiated teaching strategies and resources that cater for learning support or advanced curriculum offerings. The CBCC Learning Enrichment Team is coordinated by Mrs Glenda Hornby and Mrs Tracey Shields and the programs are implemented in the classrooms with the help of our skilled Teacher Aides.
The advanced learning program encourages students to explore their world, develop their gifts and talents, challenge and stimulate their thinking and enhance their enthusiasm for learning. They will become responsible and productive individuals who are independent thinkers and cooperative class members.
The learning support program assists students who may be experiencing difficulty accessing the classroom curriculum. Teachers identify students who are not achieving at their year level and refer them to the learning support team. The team gathers information about the student, with parent consultation and develops a personal and effective support plan.
To assist with this process, a school data bank has been set up where information is gathered about all students’ learning (Prep to Year 12) through standardised assessment. The information is collected and analysed, and used to inform teachers about students’ learning needs, as well as monitoring students’ progress across their school years.
